Abstract

Quadriceps (Q) angle is an important indicator of biomechanical function of the lower extremity. We conducted a study on 500 adults (250 males and 250 females) in the age group of 18–50 years. We compared Q-angles on dominant and non-dominant sides and also compared the data with previous studies. Mean Q angle in males were more on dominant side while in females it was more on non dominant side. Mean Q angle was more in females. This standard may serve as a guideline for sexual dimorphism, designing prosthesis for the knee replacement surgeries, diagnosis of Patello-femoral pain syndrome and Patellar subluxation.
