Abstract

With changing trends and modernisation in almost all corners of the society in general and India in particular, estimation of age of an individual is practically gaining utmost importance in medico legal cases. From the moment of birth until the time one has grown up, bones go through a set a characteristic changes. Therefore the skeletal maturity, or bone age, can be estimated from radiographs of specific bones in the human body. This study is an effort to estimate age among males and females by studying X-ray of distal end of radius and ulna. In our study complete fusion at distal end of radius and ulna in males was seen at the age group of 18 years to 19 years, whereas in females complete fusion at radius occurs at age of 17–18 years and ulna fuses at 18–19 years.
