Abstract

There are a number of poisonous plant seeds which can cause severe health injury as well as death of livestock. Lack of necessary understanding and awareness about these seeds may prove to be fatal for livestock. Sometimes, such seeds are also used in various criminal activities. Present study has searched few toxic plant seeds as threat to the health and safety of livestock in Haryana. These seeds were systematically identified and later, separated by using a newly developed thin layer chromatographic (TLC) solvent system. TLC profiles of these toxic seeds can be used for forensic purpose for comparing them in toxicological analysis involving cases of suspected poisoning due to plant seeds.
