In any sexual assault, vaginal swab epitomizes the distinct ratio of male and female DNA because of limited number of sperms and high concentration of female cell. A forensic scientist always uses this ratio to determine the identity of culprit by differential extraction. Due to the limited amount of vaginal swab, scientists prefer the direct examination rather than differential extraction. In this case, direct examination helped to extract out enough information/profile of culprit, that was sufficient to nab him and put behind the bar.
