Abstract

In current scenario the field of questioned documents is not only dealing with examination of handwriting but also with the comparison and analysis of writing ink. Over the past years, questioned document examiners have struggled with various documents, their examination and identification with respect to inks. Examination of ink serves as an important key in establishing the authenticity of questioned documents. This article focuses on various techniques which have been used in recent years for scientific examination of ink. The techniques included are categorized on the basis of four broad categories i.e. chromatography, electrophoresis, spectroscopy and miscellaneous. This article will help examiners to select the appropriate method and conduct examination and identification of ink with the best suited method.
