Abstract

It has different effects for children compared to adults and is a major cause of mortality, disability, and psychological disorders later in life.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the causes of pediatric head trauma in Iran in order to decrease its incidence and economic-social burden in the society by creating awareness among families and organizations.

Conclusions: Analysis was performed on the cause of 968 cases of head trauma in children aging 0–14 years (of which 32.3% was caused by motor vehicle accidents, 48.2% by falling, and 9.2% by being hit by objects). In the age group of 0–20 years (13004 cases), the main cause was motor vehicle accidents in 43.2%, falling in 32.1% and being hit by objects in 3.3%.
