Identity is described as “the distinguishing character or personality of an individual” by Webster's dictionary. It is synonymous with individuality. An individual need to be identified every moment while living in a society as well as after death. The significance of establishing identity of an individual is of immense importance for the society.
In case of mass disasters, air plane crashes or bomb blasts, the parts of human bodies get piled up resulting in the difficulty in identifying different parts belonging to each individual. Several studies have been conducted by different anthropologists to establish a relationship between the stature and different extremities, gender based differences, handedness and the stature. Here in the study we attempted to determine most significant measurement of the foot which can be used to determine the stature in Karnataka population in both the genders.
