Sudden death in a teenaged boy due to advanced coronary artery disease: A Case Report

19 years old boy, a engineering student developed severe chest pain and suddenly collapsed while playing football in the evening. He was rushed to the hospital where he was declared brought in dead. An Autopsy was conducted to find out the cause of death. Left Ventricle wall was hypertrophied and gross occlusion of Left Anterior Descending branch of Coronary Artery was demonstrated. Histopathology report confirmed the above findings and reported a 90 % Blockade of Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery. The above case brings into light a rare case of death due to Myocardial Ischemia due to gross blockade of Coronary artery at a very young age. Though the parents denied any similar history of sudden death due to cardiac pathology in family or any history of risk factors or symptoms of cardiac disease in deceased, this paper brings forward the factors that can cause atherosclerotic changes in coronary arteries at a young age.
