The different physical characteristics of human skeleton between both the genders is the reason of Sexual dimorphism. Many researchers have studied and observed the different parameters for sexual dimorphismin different bones. Pelvis is most important bone for determination of gender. In modern era of advancement, pathological autopsy is shifting towards the virtual autopsy from the pelvis, we took following measurements for determination of gender (1)Sub-pubic angles, (2) Pubic angles 1 & 2, (3) X angles.
To establish gender differentiation criteria in population of Bihar based on subpubic angle, pubic angle 1, pubic angle 2 and angle X.
we used 200 antero-posterior view of pelvic digital radiograph, equal from both genders. Through digital radiograph of pelvis we measured sub-pubic angle, pubic angle 1 & 2 and “X” angle with DICOM software.
Sub-pubic anglein males and females were 91.8±15.73 and 129. 04±13.30 respectively. Sub-pubic angles of pelvis for determination of gender were found statistically significant.
females had significantly higher mean valve of sub-pubic angle and “X” angle, while mean valves of pubic angles 1 & 2 is higher in male.
