Abstract

Hanging is mostly suicidal in nature and in very rare cases it may be homicidal. In few cases it may be accidental as seen in children while playing or in adults who practice unusual sexual practices. In rare instances the hands and feet may be tied with rope by the victim himself to prevent any change of mind. In such cases opinion regarding the manner of death becomes very difficult. Thorough post mortem examination including examination of ligature material, knot style, detail history and crime scene visit are very important. Here is a case report of such a suicidal hanging with both hands tied back with a rope
