Stature estimation is one of the important biological parameters useful for possible identification of the missing person. In this present study, 100 deceased individuals (50 males and 50 females) were brought for medico-legal autopsies. The study was conducted at the Department of Forensic Medicine, Justice K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, Mangaluru and the duration of study was two years.(September 2015 to September 2017). The Forensic experts encounters challenging task of identification in cases of mass disaster, explosions, putrefied or skeletonised remains, dismembered bodies. Therefore, the present study was conducted to derive a formula for estimating the stature using maximum facial height in the population of Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka.
