Abstract

From analysis of one hundred cases of alleged/suspected sodomy in living or dead males from anal swab examination, the incidence of reporting crime of sodomy in the state of Punjab in the year 2005–06 was 0.385 per lac population with maximum samples (70%) received from the victims aged below 15 years, an indicator that minor age victims are more prone to the crime of sodomy popularly referred to as pederasty but no age seemed to be exempt from the crime. Out of the total cases sent for anal swab examination, 31% cases were found to be positive for the presence of spermatozoa which is the confirmatory medical evidence of sodomy. Some districts reported higher incidence compared to other parts in a given geographic area of human population in the state.
