In spite of advancing civilization killing oneself or someone are commonly found these days. Various factors namely family structure, psychosocial environment etc play an important role for criminal behavior. Hanging and strangulation are the common types of violent asphyxial deaths which prevent entry of air to the lungs by affecting constriction to the neck. This is a comparative study distribution of hanging and strangulation cases occurring in Northeast and Northwest region of Punjab. Relationship of sex of the person and residence to which that person belonged is also discussed.
