Birth of Dolly a lamb in 1997 and isolation of human embryonic cells derived from human embryos in 1998 have already opened the perspective of a new biomedical world, fraught with consequences. Recently Karim Nayernia of University of Newcastle, UK created human sperm from male embryonic stem cells which has further flared the issue. The present paper is an attempt to analyze the probable scientific and ethical implications of recent advances in cloning and related biomedical research with an insight into the policies and legislation of different countries.
