Under artificial seed technology development programme the epiphyllous buds of Kalanchoe tubiflora were used for encapsulation using various concentrations of sodium-alginate. Buds were treated with different concentrations of ABA either prior to encapsulation or even in the alginate matrix to inhibit the precocious growth. The germination behaviour of the encapsulated buds was also studied.
