Chickpea is one of the most important pulse crop contributing lion’s share in world’s gram production. Biological control using native Plant Growth Promoting Rhizobacteria spp. isolated from rhizosphere soils is a sustainable solution to control this soil borne disease. It also affects the plant growth by increasing nutrient uptake, siderophore production, the synthesis and release of growth-promoting hormones. Hence, the present study was conducted to select the potential native PGPR species of Marathwada region (Maharashtra) for the management of Fusarium wilt as well as in plant growth promotion of chickpea. Total of 19 rhizosphere soil samples were collected from healthy rhizosphere of chickpea fields from three agroclimatic zones of Marathwada region (Maharashtra). Among the isolates species CPP and CPP produced medium size, white, convex, smooth, regular colonies, yellowish green pigmentation, gram negative reaction with rod shaped cells and negative sporulation. While specues CSN CSB and CSO produced small size, white, convex, smooth, irregular to regular colonies, light green pigmentation, gram negative reaction with rod shaped cells and negative sporulation.
