Abstract

XanthomJonas oryzae pv. oryzae is an important and destructive pathogen causing bacterial blight of paddy. Attempt were made to ascertain the variability in Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae and results revealed that-isolates collected from different locations showed cultural, physiological, biochemical and pathological variations. Four isolates showed difference in colony appearance, varying degree of physiological and biochemical characters. Xo-A and Xo-3 isolates expressed more severe symptoms than Xo-C and Xo-D.
