Physiological Variation Among French Bean Isolates of Rhizoctonia Solani
Abstract
Studies showed that all the isolates of Rhizoctonia solani exhibited slight variation in their physiological requirements. Most of the isolates preferred Czapek's dox agar as solid medium while potato dextrose broth supported the maximum growth of the isolates. All the isolates grew rapidly within a temperature range of 25 to 30°C and RH above 95 per cent. pH ranging between 5.0 and 6.0 supported the-maximum growth of the isolates. However, isolates preferred slightly higher pH as compared to lower ones. Glucose among carbon and ammonium tartrate as well as potassium nitrate among nitrogen sources yielded maximum mycelial growth of most of the pathogen isolates.
