Abstract

The commonly used bioinoculants i.e. Azotobacter, Azospirlllum, Bacillus, Pseudomonas and Trichoderma were found to posses phosphorus solubilizing ability alone and in combinations with each other by forming zone of solubilization on Pikovskaya's media. Maximum solubilizing zone, reduction in pH;, phosphatase activity, available phosphorus and acidity of media i.e 8.0 mm, 7.0 to 4.1, 35.10 µmole/g/h, 135.42 ppm and 0.00738N respectively were observed due to Pseudomonas after 8 days of incubation, followed by Bacillus. Temperature range of 25–30° C was best for all the activities of phosphorus solubilizing micro- organisms followed by 40°C and 15°C temperature. Slightly acidic (6.5) to neutral pH (7.0) was found more suitable than acidic (5.5, 6.0) arid alkaline pH (7.5, 8.5).
