Abstract

Potato dextrose agar (PDA) medium supported best mycelial growth and excellent sporulation of the Alternaria altenata (Fr.) Keissler followed by oat meal and corn meal agar. Highest dry mycelial weight was recorded in potato dextrose broth (586.5 mg) over all other media. The mycelial growth and sporulation of A. altenata was maximum at 25°C followed by 30 and 20°C. pH 7 (68.00 mm) gave maximum mycelial growth and sporulation of the A. altenata followed by pH 8 (64.25 mm).
