Abstract

Alternaria solani (Ellis and Martin) is a pathogen causing early blight of tomato resulting in heavy yield losses. Five isolates of Alternaria solani collected from different areas showing varied type of pathogenic ability against Pusa Ruby. Sensitivity of fungicides against different isolates considered for assessment of variation as well as for management. Isolates As1, As4, and As5 were highly sensitive to companion @ 0.20 per cent, while As2 for mancozeb and As, for propiconazole as maximum growth inhibition was achieved. Two sprays of mancozeb @ 0.5 per cent or propiconazole @ 0.05 per cent were effective for reduction of early blight of tomato under field condition. These fungicides could lower down the intensity from 54.32 per cent (Control) to 35.27 and 35.32 per cent.
