Manipulation of sowing dates is an obviously good strategy to minimize the bacterial blight disease caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. Malvacearum (Smith) dye with relation to environmental factors. The bacterial blight appeared to a level of 5.37 per cent incidence with 2.35 per cent intensity in 31st (MW) in 27th June sown crop while (July) 7th and 17th 2007) sown plot disease appeared in 32nd (MW) The level of incidence was 6.67 and 1.66 per cent and intensity 2.33 and 0.41 per cent respectively. The bacterial blight disease increased progressively and reached its peak i.e. 53.67 per cent incidence with 22.35 per cent intensity in 42nd (MW) in lst sown plot. Incidence and intensity reached its maximum in 42nd (MW) Bacterial blight incidence and intensity was maximum in 1st sown plot than 2nd and 3rd sown plot and disease appears a week before than late sown lot. Maximum temperature and blight sunshine hours (BSH) was found positive and significantly associated with in crease in disease.
