Abstract

An attempt was also made to study the ability of these Trichoderma isolates to produce chitinase enzyme through polyacralamid gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) method and relate it to their antagonistic ability which wiE help to identify the markers and it can be inserted in to the plant itself through genetic engineering to evolve resistant varieties or these markers may be inserted into Trichoderma species itself to promote its antagonistic ability. Several authors have already studied the variations among Trichoderma species with respect to chitinase production. With this background in the present investigation an attempt was also made to characterize.chitinase with different Trichoderma isolates available at project Directorate of Biological Control, Bangalore following SDS-PAGE analysis and relate it to their biocontrol efficacy.
