Abstract

The isolates of Trichoderma harzianum, and Trichoderma viride and their formulations were effective in minimizing the mycelial growth of Drechslera oryzae from 17.86 to 39.64 per cent The maximum inhibition was recorded in Trichoderma harzianum (Kan). The bio-agents also provide good protection of seed against seed borne infection, resulting increased seed germination with 88.83 % against 65% in control-I. The growth of paddy seedling was also enhanced by the effect of seed treatment with bio-agents. Seed dressing with spores suspension of Trichoderma stimulated the growth of plants, exhibited 26.83–78.72% and 9.16–53.82% increase of shoot length over controM (D. oryzae) and control-II (Healthy) respectively, and in case of root length, the increase was 22.06–65.84% and 6.67–44.93% over controU (D. oryzae) and control-II (Healthy) respectively. Similar observation has also been recorded in the treated paddy seedling with bio-agents in blotter method.
