Disease survey in selected ginger growing areas of malnad Karnataka revealed seriousness of Pythium rot cum Ralstonia wilt complex in different areas of Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada (25–50%)followed by Soraba taluk (0–42%) of Shimoga districts. The variety, Riodijaneira showed high incidence (38–50%) followed by Sirsi local (25–50%) and Himachal (25–30%). In the integrated management trial, two year (2009–10 and 2010–11). Pre-sowing of rhizome with 0.05% streptocycline + 0.2% copper oxy-chloride for 20min. and post sowing soil drench with 0.2% bleaching powder and (T8) 0.1% Metalaxyl MZ thrice at 20 days intervals from disease inception found very effective in reducing the disease to the maximum extent (PDI- 2.79) compared PDI of 51.63% in control. The same treatment showed the highest rhizome yield (172.75q/ha.) compared to 58.75q/ha. in control. In terms of monitory benefit, it fetched higher profit of Rs. 2.85 lakh over control. The treatment recorded low C: B ratio (1:11.72) compare to (1:30.52, The net returns was 3 times more than T1 (Rs. 2,62610=00). T8 stands as the best from the point of not only reducing Pythium rot cum Rlastonia wilt complex, but also in generating high economic return from ginger crop.
