Abstract

The reactions of different grape varieties against Physopella ampelopsidis were studied under artificial epiphytotics in glasshouse and also in field conditions. For relative resistance and susceptibility of grape to rust pathogen, nine grape varieties were screened under glasshouse conditions at P.G.I., MPKV, Rahuri and thirty were screened in field conditions at AICRP on grape, MPKV, Rahuri, Dist-Ahmednagar. Among the 9 varieties screened, only Cabernet Sauvignon was found resistant to rust (0–20) while amongst the 30 varieties from naturally infected grapevine Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Beauty Seedless were found resistant to rust. None of the varieties were highly resistant (0–0) to rust. Widely grown cultivars like Thompson Seedless, H-5 Clone, Sonaka, Tas-A-Ganesh were moderately susceptible to rust pathogen while rest of the varieties exhibited wide range of susceptibility
