Abstract

Ten promising isolates of Trichodenna spp. from different soil types of Raichur district were identified as, Trichodenna piluliferum, Trichodenna viride, Trichodenna virense, Trichodenna hamatum and Trichoderma harzianum. Mycelial growth, inhibition of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cicen by different Trichodenna spp. were evaluated in vitro by dual culture technique, highest inhibition 81.22 per cent was recorded by T. harzianum(l). Under sick soil evaluation, maximum germination (86.67%) with minimum wilt incidence (3.33%) and comparatively good growth were observed in the soil application of T. viride compared to pathogen check (53.55% wilt and 60% germination). T. piluliferum (1) has given cent per cent germination and lower wilt incidence (13.33%). All antagonists significantly reduced the wilt incidence when compared to pathogen check (85.19%). Soil application of Trichodenna spp. was found to be superior over the seed treatment.
