Abstract

The pooled results in respect of control of grain moulds revealed that two fungicidal combinations i.e., thiram (0.2%) + carbendazim (0.2%) in 1: 1 ratio and captan (0.3%) + mancozeb (0.3%) in 1: 1 ratio with sticker @ 0.05 were found significantly effective over control treatment in controlling grain moulds of seeds of sorghum hybrid CSH -14 when they were applied three times in the field from heading’ grain maturity. The first spray was given at 50% heading and 2nd and 3rd at 15 and 25 days after first spray. Altemaria altemata (Fr.) Keissler, Curvularia lunata (Wakker) Boedijn, Drechslera sorghicola Lefebvre and Sherwin (Richardson and Fraser), Fusarium moniliforme sheld. were found commonly associated with grain moulds of sorghum hybrid seeds of CSH -14. These fungi adversely afccted the germination and vigour index of the hybrid seeds of CSH -14.
