In India collar rot caused by Aspergillus niger causes considerable losses to groundnut. Although some chemical fungicides are known to be controlling, they are not so effective to manage the disease.
Hence, new molecules have been tested against the disease. Among the nine fungicides and biocontrol agents tested, Pyraclostrobin 20% WDG – T3 at 1.5 g/kg as seed treatment was found most effective over the other treatments which was equivalent to Pyraclostrobin 20% WDG – T2 at 1.0 g/kg as seed treatment in increasing the germination percentage and reducing disease incidence in the seedlings as compared to control and other fungicides and bio control agents. In addition, increased pod yield, pod number per plant, hundred seed weight and shelling percentage were recorded by the treatment.
