Abstract

An investigation was undertaken to record the association of seed borne fungi of mungbean affected by rains and subsequently to assess their effect on germination of seeds. Rain affected seed sample of mungbean were collected from Pulses Research Unit, Dr. PDKV Akola. Seed borne fungiof mungbean were detected by employing standard blotter paper method (ISTA, 1986). Five genera of different fungi were recorded viz. Aspergillus niger, Aspergillus flavus, Fusarium sp., Macrophomina phaseolina and Rhizoctonia bataticola with rain affected seeds. Out of which Macrophomina phaseolina was found predominant pathogenic fungi and recorded maximum (36%) incidence. Reduction in seed germination was also observed due to these seed borne fungi of mungbean.
