Abstract

Isolates of Gloeosporium ampelophagum collected from various districts from Maharashtra state were analyzed for their development of resistance against carbendazim fungicide. The majority of isolates were highly resistant to carbendazim. Colony characteristics like shape, colour, nature, fruiting body, exudation, conidial size and sensitivity to carbendazim were observed. Different colony morphology was noted in isolates including cottony, floccose and velvety. The majority isolates produced were circular, velvety and white coloured colony with acervuli. The droplets or exudate production was totally absent in carbendazim sensitive; however it was produced by all the resistant isolates. The resistant isolates were highly adapted in colony characters when compared with sensitive one. However, minor differences were observed in conidial sizes of carbendazim sensitive and resistant isolates.
