Economic Profile of a Mentha Oil Extraction Plant

Abstract

Mentha an important oil crop has gained popularity in Punjab during past couple of years and as such a number of industrial units have been set up for extraction of mentha oil. Mentha oil is a valuable ingredient in various cosmatic and pharmaceutical items. A mentha oil extraction plant with a capacity of 105 t/year of mentha oil can give a monthly profit of Rs. 60,000 to Rs. 65,000 with an initial investment of Rs. 19.4 lakhs. Breakeven point for the processing plant is 17577.77 qtls per year. The pay back period is 2.12 years whereas return on investment is 37.18 per cent.
