Studies were conducted at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana to see the effect of chemicals on fruit drop, yield and quality of Umran ber. NAA, 2, 4-D, GA3, each at 15, 30 and 60 ppm concentrations, fungicide treatments of Blitox (2000, 3000 and 4000 ppm) and Bavistin [carbendazim] (500, 1000 and 1500 ppm) were sprayed orrthe tree. It was found that NAA treatments were best in improving yield and quality of Umran fruits. Highest yield, largest fruit size and total soluble solids each was recorded with NAA (60 ppm), whereas 30ppm NAA treatment resulted in lowest acidity and highest ascorbic acid content. GA3 treatments considerably reduced the fruit drop, increased fruit set and also improved yield of ber fruits. GA3 at 60ppm recorded the lowest fruit drop, highest fruit set and yield. Fungicide treatments of Blitox and Bavistin had little or no effect on fruit drop and yield, however, 1500 ppm, Bavistin treatment recorded highest fruit weight of ber cv. Umran.
