Fifty males belonging to business community of Ludhiana who had suffered a heart attack 4–6 months prior to the study were selected. In Phase I of the study dietary pattern of the subjects was recorded, anthropometry was measured and clinical profile was analysed. In phase II of the study, personalised and intensive dietary counselling on dietary aspects of CHD was given through lecturers-cum-leaflets for a period of 4 months at 2 week intervals. Post-test was conducted in Phase III of the study. Based on the information obtained in Phase I and III of the study, the results were statistically analysed. The subjects had significantly increased consumption of fruits, vegetables, skim milk, fat (butter, refined oil and mustard oil) whereas vanaspati had significantly decreased. This indicated significant positive changes in weight, BMI, MUAC, TSFT, W:H ratio, blood pressure, blood glucose and lipid profile, showing a positive impact of dietary counselling.
