Biological Control of White Rot (Sclerotinia Sclerotiorum) of Pea (Pisum Sativum L.)

Abstract

Trichoderma harzianum and Trichoderma viride reduced disease intensity of white rot of pea caused by Sclerotinla sclerotiorum significantly when applied in the form of seed or soil treatments. Seed treatment of pea with T. harzianum was superior to soil application of the biocontrol agent in checking the infection by Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and there was 71.46% reduction in infection over control. T. viride was also effective mycoparasite against white rot and severity of disease was reduced by 61.87% in the field conditions.
