Profile of Patients with Coronary Heart Disease

Abstract

Seventy-five males of age 35–60 years, belonging to the business community, who had suffered a heart attack 4 to 6 months prior to the start of the study, were selected and effect of life style on coronary heart disease (CHD) was studied. Information was collected using pre-structured interview schedule. The most common age group was found to be 45–50 years, having per capita per month income of Rs 8000 to 10,000. Subjects having family and work liabilities, family history of CHD and its related diseases, leading a sedentary life style, having work related stress and preferring calorie rich foods in the diet were found to be more prone to CHD.
