The levels of different hormones and minerals were studied in normal cyclic and postpartum anoestrus buffaloes (lactating buffaloes which had crossed 50 days post-partum without showing any signs of estrus). The blood samples were collected at fortnightly intervals during 50–125 days post-partum anoestrus. The post-partum anoestrus buffaloes had lower plasma concentration of progesterone, T3, T4, blood glucose, inorganic phosphorus, iron and copper as compared to the normal cyclic buffaloes.
