Levels of Hormones and Minerals in Normal Cyclic and Post Partum Anoestrus Buffaloes

The levels of different hormones and minerals were studied in normal cyclic and postpartum anoestrus buffaloes (lactating buffaloes which had crossed 50 days post-partum without showing any signs of estrus). The blood samples were collected at fortnightly intervals during 50–125 days post-partum anoestrus. The post-partum anoestrus buffaloes had lower plasma concentration of progesterone, T₃, T₄, blood glucose, inorganic phosphorus, iron and copper as compared to the normal cyclic buffaloes.
