Cotton leaf curl virus (CLCuV) was transmitted from infected cotton to healthy Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum), Tobacco (Nicotiana tobacum), Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum), Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus), Chilli (Capsicum annum), China rose (Hibiscus rosa sinesis), Zinnia (Zinnia elegans), Jungli Pudina (Ageratum conzoides) and Kanghi Buti (Sida alba) plants by giving an acquisition and inoculation access feeding period of 24 hrs to whitefly (Bemisia tabaci) on infected and test plants, respectively. Ten whiteflies per plant were used for inoculation. In chilli and china rose, no visual symptoms appeared, while in all other plants symptoms took a longer time to appear in May, than June. During May the minimum period required for initiation of symptoms was 12 days on Jungli pudina, Tobacco and Cotton, while it was 7 days in Cotton and Tobacco during June. Thickening of main and lateral veins and curling of leaves were the main symptoms produced after inoculation. Enations were observed only in Cotton, Tomato and Tobacco. The causal virus of these symptoms was identified as CLCuV, Gemini virus
