In the present study, the pharmacokinetics of diminazene in T. evansi infected rabbit was evaluated. The experimental infection was established with cattle and camel strain of T. evansi inoculum dose 2x106 trypanosomes/rabbit, s/c. The infected rabbits were treated with single i.m. administration of diminazene @ 3.5 mg.kg−1. The appreciable plasma level of diminazene 0.90 ± 0.09 μg.ml-1 (cattle strain) and 0.81 ± 0.08 μg.ml−1 (camel strain) were detected at 2 mins. of injection. The peak plasma drug concentration of 3.61 ± 0.28 μg.ml−1 and 4.07 ± 0.32 μg.ml−1 were achieved within 56.25 ± 7.50 and 52.5 ± 8.66 min for cattle and camel strain, respectively. Area under curve 287.02 ± 9.44 μg.ml−1.h (cattle strain) and 300.31 ± 12.99 μg.ml−1.h (camel strain) and elimination half life, distribution half life, absorption half life were recorded.
