Studies on determining maturity indices of Satluj purple plum

The studies on maturity indices of Satluj Purple plum fruits revealed that the fruits took 71 days from the time of fruit-set or 36 days after pit hardening stage to reach harvest maturity. Fruit size, weight, volume and stone weight increased, while specific gravity decreased with the advancement of fruit maturity. The dry weight decreased and pulp weight increased when the fruits attained maturity. As the fruit mature, total soluble solids and reducing sugars increased, with a corresponding decrease in acidity. A decreasing trend was recorded in total phenolics towards fruit maturity.
