The study was conducted on 180 female adolescents (17–18 years), studying in schools of Ludhiana city affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education. Mayer- Salovey- Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT 2002) was used to assess strategic emotional intelligence of adolescents. Detailed marks sheets of matriculation were procured to find out their academic performance. Personal information sheet was used to know the background information of the female adolescents. Statistically significant relationship was found between strategic emotional intelligence and academic performance in three study subjects viz. Maths, Science and Social Science. No relationship existed between strategic emotional intelligence and subject of English. High achievers in English and Social Science subjects also scored high levels of understanding emotions, while it was not incase of Maths and Science. High achiever in Maths and Social Science subject scored maximum mean scores in high performance level of managing emotions. Results also reported that with the increase in the level of strategic emotional intelligence from low to high, there was increase in academic performance levels.
