To ascertain optimum spacing for Kinnow plantation, the studies were initiated at Regional Research Station, Abohar with five different spacings viz., 20’ × 10’, 20’ × 15’, 20’ × 20’, 22’ × 22’ and 25’ × 25 during the year 1981. The number of fruits per tree increased with the increase in the spacing between the trees and widely spaced trees produced significantly more fruits than that of closely spaced trees. However, cumulative fruit yield was higher in closely spaced plantation (20’ × 10) than that of all other spaced plantation. The rate of tree growth was more in widely spaced plantation as compared to closely spaced plantation. Based on the results obtained during the studies, high density plantation (20’ × 10) of Kinnow mandarin is recommended to obtain higher fruit yield and better economic returns.
