Abstract

A mustard planter procured from Punjab Agro; Ludhiana was evaluated in the laboratory and field for its performance. In the laboratory seed rate of 0.98 kg/ha at the bigger notch setting and 0.48 kg/ha at the smaller notch setting was observed at forward speed of 2.0 km/h. In the field evaluation, seed rate of 1.05 kg/ha at bigger notch setting was recorded at forward speed of 2.1 km/h with 8–11 plants per meter length at the optimum parameters. The objective was to reduce the labour cost required in thinning operation than other sowing operations of mustard.
