Production of lignolytic enzymes viz., laccase, manganese peroxidase and lignin peroxidase by thermoascus aurantiacus MTCC 375 was studied in four different media viz., Mandel's medium, digested biogas slurry medium (DBS), diluted digested biogas slurry medium (50%, DDBS) and soaked paddy straw medium under solid state fermentation. The activities of all the three lignolytic enzymes (laccase, manganese peroxidase and lignin peroxidase) were maximum in digested biogas slurry medium. Lignolytic enzyme profile studies indicated that the lignin peroxidise activity was maximum on 4th day (9187.5 U/g) where as manganese peroxidase and laccase activities were maximum on 8th day (225 U/g, 785 U/g respectively) in digested biogas slurry medium. Hence digested biogas slurry medium was found to be a suitable medium for lignolytic enzyme production.
