Abstract

In the present study, ten soybean strains were evaluated along with four standard checks during kharif 2013 and 2014 at two locations viz., Palampur and Kangra of Himachal Pradesh. The analysis of variance revealed highly significant differences due to genotypes, environments and genotype x environment interaction for all the traits studied when tested against pooled error. G x E (L) was significant for plant height and number of branches per plant. The magnitude of G x E (linear) was more than non-linear component (pooled deviation) for days to maturity, plant height, number of branches per plant and 100-seed weight suggesting its importance in the expression of these traits. The genotype P1–4 was suitable for favorable environment and resistant to yellow mosaic virus, frog eye leaf spot and pod blight. The genotype SL-958 was found suitable for unfavorable environment and it was resistant to yellow mosaic virus and pod blight.
