An experiment was conducted to investigate the growth dynamics and yield of mungbean under different growing environments at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. The mungbean was sown on three different dates of sowing (1st July, 15th July and 30th July) with three different row spacings (22.5 cm, 30 cm and 45 cm) under split plot design. Photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and biometric observations such as leaf area index (LAI) and dry matter accumulation were recorded periodically. The yield and yield contributing characteristics were recorded at harvesting. Relationships were developed between PAR interception and dry matter accumulation and leaf area index. Highly significant coefficient of determination (R2) was observed which indicated that PAR interception significantly influences dry matter accumulation as well as leaf area index of crop. The seed yield was highest (10.04 q/ha) in 15th July followed by 1st July (8.97 q/ha) and 30th July (8.45 q/ha) sown crop. Among different row spacings, the seed yield was higher in 30 cm row spacing (9.82 q/ha) followed by 22.5 cm (9.00 q/ha) and 45 cm (9.65 q/ha) row spacing.
