The field experiments were conducted at Breeder Seed Production Centre, Govind Ballabh Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, during Kharif season from August to October of 2014 on cowpea variety Pant Lobia-3. Among the various insecticides applied against the spotted pod borer (M. vitrata), spinosad @ 2 ml/litre showed good results with highest reduction (90.12 per cent) in larval population followed by lambda-cyhalothrin at 2 ml/litre with 77.60 per cent reduction. While Bacillus thuringiensis var. kurstaki @ 1 kg/ha was less effective against pod borer with 33.01 per cent reduction in larval population.
