Present study was conducted on post-harvest handling of gladiolus where different herbal extracts were used as vase solutions viz; neem (Azadirachta indica) leaf extract, tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) leaf extract, brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) leaf extract, and turmeric (Curcuma longa) rhizome extract each @ 2% concentration along with untreated control containing distilled water only. Freshly cut spikes of four varieties (Nathan Red, Morning Gold, Black Star and Peter Pears) were placed in 600 ml of the herbal extract solution as per treatment laid out in completely randomized block design. Among all the treatments, neem (Azadirachta indica) leaf extract @ 2% was found to be superior for improving postharvest quality traits in all the varieties of gladiolus. Among varieties, Peter Pears responded best to herbal extract treatments for improved post- harvest longevity and quality attributes. Post-harvest quality was recorded minimum in control treatment and in variety Black Star.
