Posterior Fossa Malignant Melanoma Mimicking Meningioma: a Case Report

Malignant melanoma [pigmented tumours] of brain is relatively rare in clinical practice. These tumours may be primary or secondary in origin. We are reporting a rare case of malignant melanoma, primary/metachronous (a secondary deposit elsewhere after a decade of primary excision). On CT scan, this lesion was mimicking like falx cerebellar meningioma, which was totally extra-axial in nature. Nearly 40% of melanoma patients will have metastasis to brain. Despite good chemo and radio therapy these patients carry poor prognosis. About 14% cases have no identifiable primary tumour.
