Understanding Kidney Stone and its Management

Abstract

Kidney stones are associated with pain and suffering. It is a wide-spread disease, with an incidence rate of 5–15% worldwide. About three-fourth of kidney stones contain calcium; with calcium oxalate stones being the maximum in number. With dietary restrictions, the incidence and recurrence of kidney stones can be minimized. The present review deals with the pathophysiology and the treatment options available for the kidney stones.
